Have you been named as an Executor in a Will?

Are you finding the pressure of being an executor too stressful and time consuming?

Estate Administration and Probate

What is Estate Administration?

Estate administration is the process of settling a person’s legal and tax affairs after they’ve died.  This process is required after every death, whether or not there is a Will.  It can involve dealing with all the deceased’s assets (such as property, shares and personal possessions), paying debts, Inheritance and Income Tax and transferring inheritance to the beneficiaries of the estate.

What is Probate?

The estate administration process is also often referred to as ‘Probate’, a Latin term which technically means to ‘prove’ the last Will and Testament as valid. The ‘Grant of Probate’ must be obtained from the probate registry before estate administration can begin.

What is an Executor?

An executor is a person appointed to administer the estate of a deceased person.

Estate Administration and Executor responsibilities can be complex, time consuming and stressful.

Executors are legally and financially liable for any mistakes made during the estate administration process.  This is why many people prefer to appoint a specialist legal firm to do the work.
